  • What type of payments do you take?
    We are a cashless climbing gym. This helps with security and ease of transactions. We accept Debit, Credit and ACH.
  • Where are you located?
    We're located at 161 Cheshire Ln Suite 500, Plymouth, MN. We're just north of the 494/394 Interchange, making us very accessible to the entire Twin Cities market.
  • What types of climbing do you offer?
    Big Island Bouldering is a bouldering only gym. This style of climbing involves climbing at lower heights over protective padding, without any ropes our harnesses. We will have ~7,000 SQFT of bouldering walls with heights ranging from 8ft to 16ft. You will need to earn your “bouldering certification” by going through Big Island Bouldering's bouldering orientation before climbing in this area.
  • What are your hours of operation?
    We are open 7 days a week. The hours of operation are: M - F: 6a - 9p Sa & Su: 7a - 9p
  • What services and programs do you offer?
    In addition to bouldering, Big Island Bouldering will offer various services and programs, including: Four expansive bouldering areas spanning a variety of difficulty, ranging from VB-V10+​. A dedicated climbing space and party room for kids. Youth bouldering and programming to include*: Parents night out After school clubs Weekend clubs Holiday camps Summer camps Birthday parties And much more… Fitness area including: racks, free weights, benches & various cardio equipment. 2 adjustable climbing walls Lounge area Pro Shop Co-working space (additional fee) Corporate team building events Climber coaching & development Bouldering competitions Shower & changing facilities When you purchase a membership or day pass, you gain access to all the benefits of a traditional health club and the thrill of bouldering. *Additional fees apply.
  • What can I expect on my first visit to Big Island Bouldering Gym?
    On your first visit, you’ll be introduced to our facility with an orientation by a friendly Big Island Bouldering team member. They will help you get the correct size for climbing shoes and set you up with a chalk bag (if you don’t have your own). You will need to watch our orientation video on your phone or tablet, if you need a viewing device, and you will need to complete the waiver. Our team member will then orient you to our facility, showing you where the fitness equipment is and the locations of our various boulders. You will need to demonstrate that you know how to fall off a boulder in the proper manner. Please wear clothing that is comfortable, athletic, and does not restrict movement. Make sure to remove any rings, necklaces or other jewelry that could get caught on the bouldering wall, while climbing.
  • Do you offer military, teacher or EMS discounts?
    Yes! We offer what we call a HERO discount to military, first responders and teachers. We will just ask to see an ID at the front desk when you check in. This discount applies to non co-working memberships, punch passes, and day passes.
  • Can we bring our dog?
    We love our dogs as much as you do, but unfortunately, we cannot invite them into our gym due to facility rules.
  • What is your event/class cancellation policy?
    Cancellations made 14 days or more before an event, camp, or class can be given full credit or refund of the registration fee. Any refund to your credit card will incur a 7% processing fee. 100% refund can be offered as a credit to your account. Cancellations made within 8-13 days before an event can be given account credit only. No refunds, make ups, or credits for cancellations made 7 days or less before an event/class. No refunds, make-ups, or credit for missed classes or events. Single missed classes in a session cannot be made up or refunded.   • Can I bring in a group of kids to come and climb?
    You can absolutely bring in a group of kids to climb. If they are under the age of 14 they must be actively supervised and accompanied by an adult, with a ratio of at least 1 adult to 2 children. If there are any concerns or questions regarding this policy please email us at info@bigislandbouldering.com.
  • Will you have childcare onsite?
    There will be scheduled times when we will have staff in the kids bouldering area (summer camps, after school programs, parents night out, birthday parties, etc.). If the area is not staffed, then youth younger than 14, will need to be actively supervised by an adult.
  • Is there an age limit for how young a child can climb?
    No! Bouldering is great for all ages and we welcome everyone to our gym. Youth younger than 14, will need to be actively supervised by an adult.
  • Do you offer a sliding scale or access membership?
    Yes we do! We believe climbing is for everyone, regardless of your ability to pay. You can learn more about our Sliding Scale Membership (SSM) at www.bigislandbouldering.com/ssm
  • Do you offer a student summer membership?
    Yes we do! We offer a discounted 3 month summer membership for students. Visit our pricing & membership page to learn more.
  • What is included in the co-working adult membership?
    The co-working membership comes in two flavors. 1) Co-working lounge space. 2) Private reserved office space. Both include the following features: Unlimited Climbing: Climb to your heart's content on our brand new bouldering walls and islands. Fitness Equipment: Enjoy the use of our state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Train to improve fitness and climbing strength. Exclusive Soft Opening Entry: Boulder before anyone else does!   • I am member, can I bring a guest for free?
    Yes, monthly & annual members are allowed to bring an unlimited number of free first time guests to the gym! There is a limit of 5 first time guests per visit.
