Bouldering League
Fall 2025

Ready to climb, compete, and connect? Join us for our very first Bouldering League! It is a 5-week challenge with weekly route resets, divisions for all skill levels, and prizes for top finishers.

It's your chance to push limits, build community, and have a blast on the wall.

We are partnering with the Kaya climbing app on this incredible event. Read on for details on format and how to participate.

Awards will be presented at our Halloween potluck party on October 25th!

Format

  • This league will happen over the course of 5 weeks starting on Sept 22 ending at noon on October 25th. Awards will be presented at the community potluck on October 25th.

  • Each competitor posts their best 5 climbs.  Those climbs will be given a score relative to the climber’s handicap (see more below).  The competitor’s score for the week will be the average of those scores.

  • Each team’s score will be the sum of the top 3 climbers’ scores.

  • League will run on the Kaya app.

Scoring

Scoring a Route

  • Scoring is Relative: All boulders will be scored based on a Relative Format. A competitor’s score is directly related to their handicap (registered max grade).

  • Flashing the Route: Completing a route on a first attempt results in max points for the route. If a climber has a V2 handicap they will receive 100 points for successfully flashing a V2. If a climber has a V9 handicap they will receive 100 points for a V9. Each grade deviation is +/- 10 points. If a V2 climber successfully flashes a V3, they will receive 110 points.

  • Multiple Attempts: 1 point is deducted per failed attempt. So if a V2 climber successfully climbs a V2 on their 3rd attempt, they will receive 98 points. If a V2 climber successfully climbs a V3 on their third attempt, they will receive 108 points.

  • Tracking: Attempts may easily be tracked in Kaya by clicking "Attempt" on your route each time you try that route. Once sent, select "Log Send".

  • League moderators reserve the right to bump handicaps to prevent sandbagging.

Individual Weekly Scoring

  • The top 5 sends will count towards your score on the leaderboard per week.  Your weekly score will be a sum of your top 5 sends for that period.

Team Weekly Scoring

  • Teams can consist of 3 to 5 people, but only the top 3 scores from the team’s weekly scores will be counted towards the team score.  This allows teams to remain competitive if 1 or more members are away, ill, injured, or otherwise unable to participate.

  • Those top 3 scores will be added together to calculate the team score for the week.

League Guidelines

Criteria for a send:

  • Climbers must start with both hands established on the start holds and feet off the pads.

  • Climbers may only use holds that are part of their route to help them progress towards the finish. All routes will be monochromatic. All volumes on for all climbs.

  • To complete a climb, the climber must show control of the top of the wall or the finish hold(s) with both hands.

  • Climbs must be completed “clean,” that is, without falling or using holds from a different route.

  • If you have any questions on the criteria listed above feel free to ask the front desk.

Attempts:

  • Every time a climber pulls onto the wall counts as an attempt. For example, if a climber falls 6 times while initially projecting a route, and sends it the next day in one go, that will count as 7 total attempts to complete the route in its entirety without any falls.

  • If a climber ‘flashes’ the climb, or completes it on the first try, it is considered 1 attempt.

  • 1 point is deducted per failed attempt. Flashing the route will result in max points for the route.

Expiration of climbs:

  • All boulders will be eligible for one week (i.e. Monday evening through Sunday night) and availability will be shown in Kaya

  • You cannot repeat a boulder once it is sent and included in your score.
